If some aquarium LED lights are blinding to look at for humans, wouldn't they be hard on fish as well?
I know these lights are becoming very common on fish tanks because of other benefits, but fish can't blink and they need to come up to the surface to eat, right up to those super bright lights. Not talking about the dim blue LED's

I would like to get a goldfish or a betta fish and could you tell me what is the minimum size tank bowl for a betta fish and what is minimum size tank bowl for a betta and also do betta fish need a heater or can I keep them in normal water.

Why is my betta fish swimming sideways?
I keep thinking my fish is dead when I look at it, it floats at the top of the water, then swims sideways and in circles then floats again. I was feeding it natural goldfish food, but now my auntie has gave me proper betta fish food balls.I would feed it the goldfish food two times a day, but it wasn't eating it, then I saw it on it's side floating, so I took it out and put it in a tub and it got it's colour back straight away, and then I gave it fish balls and it's eating fine now.but it's still swimming on it's side? also, my mum said she cleaned it out properly when it needed it, but she's obviously lying as the fish bowl was always dirty, she did clean it, but it still looked a bit grotty ? 'he's just getting ready for the fisholympics' hahaha although that wasn't the answer I was looking for, that is funny You've made my day D

My marine fish tank's protein skimmer is gushing water from the top reservoir, how do I fix it?
My husband manages the fish tank but he is currently away and mobile is out if range. How do I stop the protein skimmer from gushing water? It is siphoning out all the fish tank water at a fast rate and it's gushing out of the top reservoir? I've turned off the power to the fish tank power board including the filter, lights, wave maker, etc. this has stopped the gushing but there is no air circulation, filtration or heat now. i've tried unplugging individual power plugs but it seems as long as the air is circulating, the skimmer is gushing. The pump and skimmer are connected. I don't know what I should unplug to separate the skimmer from the pump and if doing so would cause more problems or not. if someone knows how to fix this so I can turn it all back on before the fish die that would be great.Thanks Alec, I've fixed it now, I've taken the sponge thing off the end of the tubing so the tubing doesn't reach the water to siphon and turned the power back on. My hubby also called back and walked me through turning off just the skimmer. Thanks again
What other types of fish are breed-able with gold fish?
I won a goldfish at the fair for my girlfriend about 6 months ago, I didnt think it would be alive this long and it is. I want to get more fish but i know its not good to mix a goldfish with other fish like tetras or guppys. would i be able to mix breed with any other fish?

HELP!! MY FISH ARE DYING?
I had 5 fish for a couple of months and decided to get a couple more. Now they are all dying. I notice that they have white stuff all over them. My old fish started laying at the bottom and they never do that and they are not died. HELP ME.Its a 10 gallon tank and I have platys, dalmation fish, bottom feeder and molly Thanks And the white stuff looks like light white colour and it some have white dots. Its a faded white color
